CLASS: Transforming Mysuru’s Design Landscape, One Space at a Time

Class Mysooru

Let’s take a stroll down memory lane, shall we? The story of CLASS, once known as Riddhi Siddhi Reality, began in a tiny 8’x8’ office in Shivrampete, Mysore. Picture this: a father-son duo, staring out at a group of daily wage workers idling by and asking themselves, “Can we do something to make their lives better?” That simple yet powerful question sparked what would become a transformative journey for Mysuru’s design scene.

Fast forward to October 24, 2014, and CLASS was officially born. But the name CLASS didn’t just pop out of nowhere. It started with the word “CLASH,” which felt a bit negative. So, with a creative twist, they scratched out the “H” and added an “S.” That “S” would stand for SPACE, SHAPE, and SHADE—the core of what CLASS stands for today. The mission? Transforming empty spaces into vibrant, beautiful structures all over our beloved Namma Mysore.

From Humble Beginnings to Iconic Designs

Sudarshan & SumeethMeet the founders: M. Sudarshan Kumar and his son Sumeeth S. Now, these guys didn’t come from a background in architecture or design. They didn’t even know how to hold a measuring tape or how many inches made a foot! But they had something better—a vision and an unshakeable belief that they could make a difference, one project at a time.

But, like every story, theirs had a few bumps along the way. 2016 was a tough year. Projects were few, and doubts were many. Yet, instead of throwing in the towel, they dug deep. A bit of self-analysis, a bit of self-review, and they were back on track. They built a team, starting with just four members and growing it to an impressive 200 strong.

    Finding Their Niche

Initially, they dabbled in residential projects but soon realized their true passion lay in commercial design. And what a turnaround that was! Their designs became more innovative, and the inquiries just kept pouring in. A pivotal project that marked this transition was “Pataka,” which became the new face of CLASS and brought a fresh direction to the company. It was through this project that CLASS found its identity and began to truly shine.

Today, CLASS is proud to say that many of the coolest commercial spaces in Mysore bear their signature touch. Their knack for café design is especially noteworthy, but their portfolio now spans retail outlets, schools, pubs, sweet shops—you name it, they’ve probably designed it!

Every project is our favorite because we pour our heart and soul into each one. We view every project as our own ‘baby,’ caring for it meticulously.

Growing the Team, Expanding the Horizons

By 2020, the demand for CLASS’s unique touch was through the roof. But with great demand comes the need for more hands on deck. Staying true to their roots, they sought out individuals with passion—sometimes the so-called “backbenchers” of the industry—and mentored them into designers who could hold their own. Now, they’ve grown to a team of 23, and they’ve had more than 50 interns pass through their doors. Some of these interns have stayed on, while others have gone off to start their own journeys.

CLASS’s reputation didn’t just grow—it exploded. They’ve completed over 350 projects in cities like Mysore, Bangalore, Mandya, Maddur, Koppal, Bellary, Davangere, Chitradurga, Coonoor, Pune, Ahmedabad, Virajpet, Gonikoppa, Nanjangud, KR Nagar, Mangalore, Tumkur, and Malavalli. And they’re not slowing down—there’s a hustle in their step, and they’re on a mission to keep creating designs that make you stop and stare.

    Gratitude and Community

Through it all, CLASS has never lost sight of what really matters—the people. They’re deeply grateful to their family, friends, vendors, clients, on-site team, off-site team, and everyone who’s believed in them along the way. They know they wouldn’t be where they are today without the support and trust of their community, and they’re committed to proving every day that they’re worthy of that trust.

    Looking to the Future

So, what’s next for CLASS? They’ve got some big plans. They’re on a mission to become the most trusted design studio in India, especially when it comes to commercial projects. And here’s a little sneak peek for you—they’re launching virtual stores for commercial interiors! Imagine being able to walk through a store on your mobile device, pick out what you want, and make your purchase—all from the comfort of your home. It’s still in the research and development stage, but it’s coming, and it’s going to change the game.

    The Mysuru Connection

If you’re wondering what drives CLASS to keep pushing the envelope, look no further than Mysore itself. This city, with its rich history and vibrant community, is their inspiration. They believe that Mysore’s prosperity is closely tied to the success of its businesses, and they’re driven by a mission to elevate the city’s status on a global stage. They want Mysore to be recognized not just for its beauty, but as a hub for cutting-edge design.

Over the past decade, CLASS has proven that with the right mindset and a whole lot of heart, you can build something truly special. Their journey from a small office in Shivrampete to becoming a leading design studio is proof that if you want something badly enough, there are no “but’s”—only possibilities.
